Germany's record in the Nations League with 7 goals
The quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League were secured in the previous match, but Germany's clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina was crucial to securing top spot in their group. In a record-breaking performance, Germany thrashed Bosnia 7-0, marking the biggest win in UEFA Nations League history.
Florian Wirtz and Timm Kleindienst both netted twice, while Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, and Leroy Sané each added a goal to the tally.
Musiala opened the scoring just two minutes into the match at the Europa-Park Stadium in Freiburg. Kleindienst, who had made his international debut just a month earlier against Bosnia, extended Germany's lead with a goal in the 23rd minute. It was a memorable moment for the Borussia Monchengladbach forward, who scored his first-ever international goal against the same opponent.
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz added another goal for Germany in the 37th minute, giving them a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Bayer Leverkusen's attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz took center stage, scoring twice within seven minutes—first in the 50th and then in the 57th.
By the 66th minute, Germany had extended their advantage to 6-0, thanks to a goal from Leroy Sané. Timm Kleindienst completed the historic scoreline with a 7th goal in the 79th minute.
This 7-0 victory marks the first time in the six-year history of the UEFA Nations League that a team has scored seven goals in a match.
With this commanding victory, Germany clinched the top spot in Group A3 with 13 points, leaving second-placed Netherlands five points behind.
Germany's head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance. "None of us got injured in the match," he said, reflecting on the dominant 7-0 win over Bosnia, a team known for its defensive style and ranked 74th in the world. "The quality of our attacking play was extraordinary. Scoring seven goals against a side that sets up defensively is certainly a noteworthy achievement."
Germany’s next challenge in the group stage will be against Hungary on Tuesday night.
